| The 10th Annual Rest Haven Open golf outing took place on Monday, August 27, 2007 at Midlothian Country Club in Midlothian. Two industrialists, Montgomery Ward, who started his once thriving chain of department stores, and his brother-in-law and business partner, George Thorn, launched the club in 1898 as a country getaway from Chicago. In 1914, Midlothian hosted the U.S. Open golf championship, which was won by golf's original showman, the great Walter Hagen. The event began at 11:30 AM with a BBQ lunch on the patio followed by a 1:00 PM tee-off. The "best ball" format was played. Following their round of golf, players enjoyed dinner at the club. This event helped raise money for our Gilead Centers that assist those with Alzheimer’s disease and other related memory impairments. |
