Homer Glen, Ill. (Friday, December 14, 2007) – “In five years of surveys, we have never received a single citation,” says Mike Venzon, General Manager of Victorian Inn, an Assisted Living campus in Homer Glen. “Our spotless record is the main reason we were one of the first communities in Illinois to be granted a two-year license by the Department of Public Health.”
With the passage of House Bill 1611, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is now able to issue a two-year license instead of the typical one-year license. A letter from Lynda Kovarik, Program Manager for IDPH, explains, “Two-year licenses are issued only to those Assisted Living or Shared Housing establishments that meet the specific criteria defined in House Bill 1611.” These criteria involve such measurements as staff credentials, staff-to-resident ratios, building regulations, and resident satisfaction indicators, all of which Victorian Inn has met or exceeded since opening in 2002.
“Being granted a two-year license is a vote of confidence in us from the state,” says Venzon. “And it means we can spend more time enhancing resident life rather than filling out annual paperwork!”
