SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (Monday, April 24, 2006) – “We’re making fitness a priority,” says Matt Mauthe, Administrator at Holland Home Christian Retirement Community. “Not just physical fitness, but wellness, total health.” Mauthe and his team have rolled out a new program they are calling A.B.L.E.—Active Balanced Life Experiences—which will provide opportunities for residents to maintain or improve their physical fitness as well as their spiritual health, social well-being, emotional strength, and nutritional decisions. To head up the physical fitness segment of A.B.L.E., the Holland Home has hired Rich Dobrzynski, an exercise physiologist with Health Resources Alliance, to work with residents of Holland Home three times a week.

Dobrzynski’s specialized fitness program for seniors is designed to enhance the quality of life for residents, improve performance of daily activities, and increase independence. By working with Dobrzynski, residents can expect to improve their muscular strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health, and self-esteem. Dobrzynski will work out of Holland Home’s new fitness room, which features five Nautilus exercise machines designed specifically for senior use.
